Gambia’s new Interior minister Mai Ahmed Fatty today revealed to the local press in Banjul that the armed unit of the police (PIU) will be guiding the presidential facilities and the President himself as soldiers will return to Barracks to protect the country against external aggression. These revelations were made earlier today at the kairaba beach hotel where the president himself is occupying at the moment waiting for the ECOMIG soldiers to finish vetting the state House in Banjul. It could be recalled that during former ruler yahya Jammeh, the soldiers were the only force seen near him this the PIU were mere securities around crowded places and highways but the new government have taken a U-turn citing that the soldiers should remain in the barracks and prepare to defend the country with external attacks.
