The Chief Justice of The Gambia Emmanuel Fagbenle has resigned.

The Judge is also said to have left the country for his native Nigeria. Fagbenle who stayed and worked in the Gambia for well over a decade was this month at the centre of attention as the defeated APRC attempted to contest the December 1 election results in court which could not proceed for lack of a panel of judges.

According to reports, Fagbenle said he cannot serve two masters and therefore had to go.
