The Gambia Police has requested the the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Central Bank of The Gambia to ask banks operating in The Gambia to probe and declare accounts belonging to dictator Jammeh and his family.
The Gambia Police has also asked the Financial Intelligence Unit of the Central Bank to find an alleged missing $50 million U.S dollars. It had initially been reported that more than $11-million had gone missing, Mai Fatty, said, adding that financial experts were evaluating the exact loss.
“The coffers were virtually empty when the new government of President Adama Barrow took over the reins. It has been confirmed by technicians in the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of the Gambia,” said Fatty.
